Kids Room Makeover

Salam! Peace!

Just thought I'd share a little makeover I did for my children's room back in early January. I have a girl and a boy with a three year age gap between them, my son is younger. They are still sharing a room as there are no other rooms in the house to split them up at the moment. My daughter had been nagging me for a while that her bedroom need changing and updating so I did a little research and had a good think. I realised that they were in great need of storage for their books and other home education stuff. My daughter really wanted a desk, I was wondering how I would fit in new furniture and what would be the best option for the space without making it more crowded.

At last I decided that it would be better for me to design and make the storage for them, shelves that would fit the available space in the room without taking away from the floor space.

Here is what my daughters side of the room looked like before the makeover:

And here is what it looks like now:

I made her fitted wall shelves and a desk so she has her own little study area:

My daughter decided she wanted chests of drawers instead of a wardrobe, I found these two in a second hand shop she painted the smaller one to match in with the decor.

This is what the bunk bed looked like before the makeover. I thought it would be best to keep it as it is an effective space saver but I wanted to make it even more of a storage area...

...So I came up with this book case design for my son so that he can have all of his books by his bed as he loves to read and be read to. This way he has his books to hand at bedtime or when he wakes up and just feels like relaxing in bed with a book. :)

He also decided that he no longer wanted a wardrobe and I found this lovely IKEA set just perfect for him in a second hand shop. They looked new when I bought them but I bought him some sharpies and he has been exercising his artistic talent on them. I don't mind that at all because I also like to make my own mark on things :)  Hopefully he will do some more lovely drawings expressing his personality and bringing more colour into the room over time.

I also found this gorgeous little desk for my son in a second hand shop. It was too cute to resist and I couldn't leave him without a desk now could I? Just his size too alhamdolillah. :)

I would love to hear from you. Please let me know what you think. My children are really happy with it alhamdolillah :)

Peace!
