Away From Home

I have been away from home visiting family for about a week now. This means that I am also away from my usual abundance of art supplies that I have to hand when I am at home. So how do I stay productive as an artist? Well I usually sketch for one, but to be honest I have become a bit bored of pen and paper. Instead I have chosen to research into materials that would be useful in upcoming projects that I have in mind such as making chandeliers and lanterns. I have been collecting a variety of materials that I will be able to manipulate to create something new. I have so far collected glass jars, over the door hooks and metal wire. Once I get back home I can take the time to put them together and see what I come up with.

Back to the issue of sketching, I do have my sketchbook to hand but I intend to experiment with graphite pencil and coffee painting, a nice change from the regular pen/pencil sketches. I am currently preparing for a landscape painting so it is important for me to have a good few sketches so that I will be able to get a good composition in my painting.

So between these two projects and family time I have plenty to keep me busy.
